Freckles

I had to share this cute story. Today I was noticing that Bella has a couple of very small and light freckles on her checks and nose. She asked if she could see them so I got a small mirror. She was mesmerized by them. I asked if I could kiss them and she said that first she had to name them. The ones on her left side of her face she named Rose, Tiny, and Booky, because he likes to read. The small one on her nose she named Baby Queen, and the ones on her right side she named Red Stem, Yellow Brook, and Orange Cracker. And yes, I kissed each and everyone :)

Another cute story, this time about Victoria.
Victoria: You know what I need Mom?
Me: What do you need Victoria?
Victoria: I need a Girls Night Out with Bentley.
I laughed hard.

On a sidenote, we celebrated Valentines Day yesterday. Victoria was sick at home with a stomach bug. It was kind of nice to just have one on one time with Victoria (Bella went to school). We made Valentines and crafts, ate crackers and chicken noodle soup, cuddled, watched a Valentine Barney show, and did a Valentine Scavenger Hunt that I made up- I took small hearts and wrote clues on them to locations throughout the house. A couple of examples- clue- Something a cow makes (milk), clue- When my clothes get dirty, Mom puts them here (washer), clue- Your favorite stuffed animal (Pink Dog). It ended with Pink Dog and I placed her homemade Valentine card under him. She was very happy. Later, for Valentine's Day, I made Jer's favorite enchiladas. Jer bought me some beautiful roses and candy. And today we got to eat some candy, now that our tummies are feeling better. Happy Valentine's Day!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Last Saturday was the Daddy Daughter Dance. The theme this year was Hollywood Glitz and Glamour. Grandma Carol came over and helped the girls get ready. She painted their nails a pretty hot pink with sparkles on top. Then I did their hair, pulling the top part up and letting the back keep its natural curl with some moose. Then I used some spray glitter on their hair. Note to any who are thinking of using this product- it gets everywhere! I did it in the bath tub, but should have gone outside. Finally we changed into our dresses.

Jer presented the girls with corsages that I had made for them. I was very proud of my work, however, it was held together with metal prangs that apparently came lose during their dancing and they lost the flower part of the corsage :( Next year, I will be sewing them on.

Bella gives Daddy a Thank You kiss.

At the dance, they saw their old friends Kate, Abby, and Baby Braelyn. I heard they danced the night away (okay from 2-3:30pm). Jer told me they did the Hokey Pokey, and he taught them how to do the Chicken Dance. They even saw a couple of famous movie stars- Micheal Jackson and Marilyn Monroe. Afterward they went to Buca de Beppo for an Italian style diner. They had a great time.

Welcome to Wacko World

This has been the weirdest winter yet. Last Tuesday, DFW received a powerful ice/snow storm that had the kids out of school for 4 days straight (unheard of). We had bout 1-2 inches of ice, then 4-5 inches of snow on top of that. Our driveway that faces North and was in the shade the entire time was impossible to get out of, even with salt and a couple of attempts at shoveling it off. Finally on Saturday, it started to melt and I was able to get out of the house. Also, Texas went though rolling blackouts due to the high level of electricity use. We only lost our power twice, but some areas lost it four times. During this insane time, we bundled up and read a lot of books, colored, watched movies, ate a lot of chili and homemade chocolate chip cookies, and even played in the snow a bunch of times. I really didn't start going stir crazy until that last Friday when the kids started picking on each other. And then round two came... the following week!?!... Tuesday night it started to sleet and snow, school was canceled Wednesday again! Luckily, the sun came out and let us go back to school on Thursday 2 hours later then normal start. But it was still icy that morning, and as I said goodbye to Victoria at her car pool drop off, she slipped and fell. She was okay, but it is a reminder to be careful on ice.

That Wednesday that we had off, we were all so goofy from the lack of schedule. Victoria and Bella took off all the couch cushions and piled them in the den. They called their world "Pantie World"- and this is why...
