Easter Egg Hunts and Parties at School

We had Easter egg hunts and parties today at the girls' school. Bella's hunt was first thing in the morning during their recess. She did good and was one of the first ones to run onto the playground for the eggs.

Victoria's egg hunt was a two hours later. She was so ecstatic that I was there. As soon as she saw me on the field she ran over and gave me a big hug. She did really well too collecting the eggs- unlike last year, when she didn't get any in her basket, until the teacher took pity on her and dropped some in front of her. Oh, how times change. I've also noticed that she's not as shy as she used to be. At the dentist yesterday, she was a pro.

Afterward they had a pizza party and played "Throw the eggs in the basket for a prize."
After Victoria's party, I hosted Bella's class Easter party. I bought pinwheels for the kids and stuck them into pastel colored donuts. The pinwheels were a hit! The donuts, not so much- I guess the kids were too tired after their nap.
We also made cross necklaces.
I had to take a picture of Victoria in her dress that has a matching dress for mini-Victoria.

A Me Day!

Last Friday, I had had enough! I get tired of thinking about everyone else and what everyone else wants. Sorry y'all- I love you (so much more then words can say)- but sometimes I just want to think only about myself. What do I like? It's not cleaning or stopping fights between kids or keeping track of every piece of our house including, but not limited to, medicines, tweezers, garage supplies, small Polly pocket parts, clothing- both summer and winter, bills, coupons, gum, you name it and my head is constantly wrapped around it. So after I dropped the kids off at school, I had 4 hours to do what I wanted. I went and got a manicure/pedicure and a new hair cut. It was so nice to have the salon actually ask, "Do you want a glass of wine, a coke, or a water." I chose water and melted into their chair with a foot and hand massage. It felt great!

First Day of Spring

On the last day of Spring Break and the first official day of Spring, it snowed. The forecasters had predicted 1/2 inch, but we received 6 inches of the white stuff!
We made a snowman.

We goofed around. Notice that our Bradford Pear trees had already blossomed- no that's not snow, but flowers.

We had many snowball fights.

And I got to take some great pictures!
By the way, notice how our Snowgirl is decked in the latest Springtime garb- flower branches for her hair and Bradford Pear blossoms for her eyes.

Spring Break

We traveled to the Hill Country this past weekend to visit the Lake Travis/Enchanted Rock/Fredricksburg area for Spring Break. It wasn't too bad of a trip- only 4 hours to Lake Travis. In the morning we tried to get an early start to Enchanted Rock, but had some interesting encounters, most notably the "Great GPS" debate- Dick's Magellan GPS system versus Jer's wireless cell phone GPS. Both had their pros and cons, but neither one in my opinion was that reliable. Dick's GPS started off taking us to a bar in Austin called Enchanted Rock (completely out of our way.) Then when we programed the right place in, it took us through small windy back roads, interesting street names- Crabapple Ave, streets with no names, and areas with signs that said "Watch for Wild Animals", as cows sat on the side of the road. (We used Jer's GPS on the way back- it only took us through a couple of back roads and some scary low water crossings.) When we finally got to Enchanted Rock, the park was already full, due to Spring Break, and we were told to come back later. So off the Fredricksburg for a quick lunch! Along the way Victoria got sick on those up and down and windy roads. The picture above is of Carol and Bella at the neat restaurant we ate lunch- beer barrels for the tables and awesome sausauge sandwiches and beer.

After lunch, we drove back to Enchanted Rock and was told it still was too full and to come back later. So we drove to a little ice cream place about 10 minutes down the road. We were about to get out of the car when someone at the shop said they Enchanted Rock was once again open. So finally after much waiting we were able to hike the mountain. I know it doesn't look like much, but trust me, it really is quite spectacular- a giant rock in the middle of no where. It takes about 30-40 minutes to hike up and it really gets the heart pumping with a steep incline. They say at night the rock moans (caused from cooling down.)

Bella and Victoria loved this outing. They ran up the side of the mountain. I had to keep telling Bella to slow down. She had just gotten over a cold was was coughing something fierce.

At the top were all these shallow pools of water with plant and animal life growing in them.

The view at the top was amazing- you could see forever in all directions.

We took a different route on the way down. It was full of giant rocks that we had to jump on and go around- we followed the water/creek- it took us much longer getting down.
The next day we went to Longhorn Caves.
This is the entrance to the caves. There is a sign right before it that says "Danger Cave Entrance." My innocent little girls sat right in front of the sign and picked weeds, aka wild flowers.

This is the view from inside the cave up.

After the hour and a half cave tour, we went on a fast hike on a trail. We had beautiful weather the whole time. It never got above 78, which was a great thing because my air conditioning went out on this trip.
On the last day, the girls had a picnic and ice cream.

Spring Musicals

I attended the girls Spring Musicals this morning. (Why are my girls always in the very back of the stage? Even with a zoom camera its very hard to get a good picture.) It was pretty cute, but very fast moving- each grade level did two songs. Bella's class did the Itsy Bitsy Spider and Deep and Wide. Victoria's class did two songs that I hadn't heard before about God.

Do I Blame the Scissors or Bella?
