A Busy Week

Victoria had her bridging ceremony in Girl Scouts on Thursday after school. She bridged from Brownie to Junior. It was really cute how her two leaders Mrs. Amy Hejnikki and Mrs. Erica Berryman created a fake bridge out of Cray paper, a blanket, flower pots and balloons. Afterward they had a rainbow cupcake cake. They even gave the girls a bag that held some badges for their vests for next year and a small present- a box of "brownies" and a box of "Junior Mints". (Get it? See- too cute.) Victoria really loves her troop and can't wait to start again next year.

After the bridging ceremony, it was Bella's spotlight. We went to her acting debut in her play Storyland Idols. She was Little Miss Muffet. She did a fabulous job at delivering her lines and getting some laughs. She has been in Drama Camp afterschool on Thursdays (same day as Victoria's Girl Scouts) and has been practicing really hard. Grandma Carol even got to come and gave her some roses.

On Friday we declared it a family night and decided to go camping in the back yard. The girls helped set up the tent. Bella got bored after a couple of minutes and went for a swing ride. (That's her behind the trampoline. Boy, my yard looks small with all this stuff.)
Victoria thought that her doll Claire needed to get in on the action, so she drove her camper to the tent.

We roasted marshmallows over a candle. The girls loved this even if it wasn't the fastest method.

They played on the trampoline after the sugar high. At bedtime I departed to sleep inside. Yes, I'm a party pooper, but a smart one- the older I get the worse my back hates the outdoor sleeping arrangements. It was funny though because I woke up at 2 and found Jer in bed beside me. I jumped up and ran to see where the girls were sleeping... sound asleep in their own beds upstairs. Apparently they didn't make it the whole night either.
The next day we went to the Heather Ridge Community pool for their annual Summer Kickoff Pool Party. It was fun seeing all of our friends and eating hotdogs and hamburgers.

Bella went to Addy's birthday party later that day. It was carnival themed, and they did up her face. Later that evening we went to our church's Taste of St. Francis- we sampled over 30 different foods and got to vote on our favorite. It was so neat! Then we went to a Symphony in our church; it was sung in Latin. It was beautiful, but I'm going to be honest, after the third song I grew restless- I like to understand my songs more.
On Sunday afternoon Victoria and Bella went to Reese and Ella's birthday party. It was a fun pool party.
I'm looking forward to the summertime and swimming more and being able to sleep in. :)
